One thing I've learned covering the Bearcats Football program is how much Coach Dantonio stresses and expects his players and staff to be involved with the community. This involvement for the most part is left unreported by the media and done with no fanfare by choice. But this coming Saturday, the wives of the Bearcats Football Coaches are looking for fan's to help make many children happy this summer.
While most fans don't get the chance to meet or know the women behind the scenes of the Bearcats Football program, I can't stress enough how important they are to the program. Their support allows their husbands a chance to work and build the Bearcats Football program into one of prominence. But while these women stay behind the scenes to fans, they all have skills and talents they use for many causes. One such cause will see these women work to help many youth's in the Cincinnati community. But for this event to work they need the help of Bearcat fans. The following is a release for the event to be held Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, December 10, 2005, the Wives of the Bearcat Football Coaches are sponsoring the "Konnect Holiday Talent Extravaganza." Konnect (Connecting Our Neighborhoods & Nurturing Every Child Together) is a non-profit organization, headed by Mrs. Tammy Barnett, which provides mentors and support for children who have a parent under current incarceration. All proceeds from the show will help send KONNECT mentors and mentees to an instructional summer retreat in 2006.
In addition to the talent from the KONNECT mentors and mentees, the show will feature acts from the UC Football Program too. Head Football Coach, Mark Dantonio, will kick off the event with some motivational words of his own.
The event will be held at the following time and location.
