Have Things Changed For Gibson?

Maryland defensive tackle Reggie Gibson has been at the top of many programs wish list. Syracuse has been his professed leader for some time. Have things changed with Scout.com two-star prospect?

Reggie Gibson a 6-foot-2, 270-pound defensive tackle prospect from Dematha Catholic HS, in Hyattsville Md. had a solid senior season, and he is gearing up for his official visit schedule that will begin in January.

"We had a strong season. We won the WCAC championship. I had three sacks and four tackles in that game. I played with a torn meniscus in my knee at the beginning of the year, but I played strong off of that injury," Gibson explained.

"I have started to set up my official visits. I have a trips planned to Cincinnati (1/13) and Akron (1/20). I do not yet have offers from those schools, but I do have an offer from Syracuse. I have not set up an official visit to Syracuse yet. I did take an un-official there, and the atmosphere was great."

The Scout.com two-star prospect has said that Syracuse was in the lead for his services in the past, is that still the case? Are there any other schools that Gibson is considering for official visits?

"Yeah, I would say Syracuse is still my leader. My friend Ryan Bartholomew is committed to them and he is the main one that is trying to influence me to Syracuse right now," Gibson said. "I am also considering Rutgers for a visit."

Gibson is also contemplating taking an official visit to Morgan Sate as they have been recruiting him heavily over the past season. He does not yet have a date set up for that visit, but his schedule would seem to be complete once you factor in Rutgers and Syracuse. Gibson caught us up on what sticks out to him about the schools that he is currently considering.

Rutgers- "The defensive line coach is giving it to me straight I would like to visit in the next couple of weeks."

Akron- "Akron has told me that have the chance to come in and play right away."

Cincinnati- "Coach Gill has been looking at me this whole time, but I do not know a lot about them. I want to take my visit and learn about Cincinnati."

Syracuse- "They have offered, and I have always been high on them. They have a strong program, and seem to have a good defense."

Even though Syracuse has been his professed leader for months, Gibson will be heading towards signing day with an open mind.

"I just want to take my visits and see where I am after that," Gibson reported.
