Sorry for the delay in posting this weeks look back at all the happenings on Bearcat Insider. Bearcat fans enjoyed a great week in many ways from December 19th through December 25th.
With the holiday season stories slow some during the week unless your team is playing in a bowl game, but while the Bearcats were at home this season, there was still plenty of "Big New" to report. In case you missed any of the stories posted on BCI, here's a look back at the 15 pieces of content posted on the site.
While the basketball season is in full gear, football news received the most interest at the start of the week. On Monday Tim Adams gave Bearcat fans a look at a local prospect that is looking for the Bearcats to show interest. Eric Ornell comes from one of Cincinnati's top prep programs. Having been a member of a state champion as a junior, Ornell became one of the team's leaders this year after watching many of his former teammates head off to play college football. Now, he's hoping to get his chance to do the same. See what Eric had to saw about what UC and any other program is telling him.
Our next story was a One-on-One interview with Bearcat verbal Chris Harrison. The junior defensive lineman will be a force for the Bearcats in years to come.
One thing we work hard on providing is recruiting news on kids from Ohio. It doesn't matter if the kid has an offer from UC or any other program, just that we provide the information on the top players from Ohio. Bearcat Insider was the first to speak with one of Ohio's top juniors about his third official offer.
But while we provide info on other players, its players the Bearcats are working on that really makes us work a little harder. BCI was the first to report about Mario Duenas during his official visit. We were also the one to release that Mario had given the Bearcats his official verbal commitment.
We next took an early look towards spring and the upcoming baseball season. The Bearcats should have a better than expected team this year, but those in the Big East are not giving them much credit.
We then posted the official press release issued by the Big East Conference about the teams headed to bowl games and to also view the final stats from the 2005 season.
The Bearcats saw a tough loss to Dayton just a few weeks before have fans scratching their heads. But UD and ESPN analyst Mark Adams had Bearcat fans smiling after reading his evaluation of the rematch in Vegas.
For Junior College players, December 21 provided them a chance to sign with the college of their choice. Bearcat Insider spoke with University of Cincinnati football recruiting coordinator Mark Staten about Mario Duenas after he signed his letter.
While the Bearcat coaches were able to talk about tow of their new players, it was news of another player that gave Bearcat fans an early Christmas present. Bearcat Insider reported about Freddie Lenix becoming a Bearcat.
And not to be left out of the picture, Bearcat Insider was also the first to speak with new Bearcat football player Ken Rodriquez about his commitment to the Bearcats program.
Not to be left out, Bearcat Insider also spoke with Bearcat coaches about their second signed player in the Class of 2006 Ken Rodriquez.
But while football was gathering many of the headlines, basketball enjoyed a very good week for both the men's and women's programs. In one day, both teams knocked off the same college within a matter of a few hours.
The University of Cincinnati Sports Information Department issues game notes prior to games. We've made it a practice to release these media notes for you to see. Here are game notes for LSU.
As you know by now, the Bearcats did win a championship in a holiday tournament this past week. While some have found the chance to belittle the victory over LSU, it's still a nice victory to have on your resume come NCAA Tournament time.
There you have it, 15 stories from Monday to Sunday and keep in mind the last day was a holiday. That's a little over 2 stories per day from Bearcat Insider.
So to end this week's review, if you were a member of Bearcat Insider you would have had all of our free content and also all the premium content. In all BCI produced 15 pieces of information in a seven day span and 33 over the past two weeks.
