When BCI asked Eric Wednesday afternoon about his recruitment by UC, he provided the latest. "They've certainly been honest with me. I can tell you that. I was just on the phone with them a couple hours ago. They've told me the team is so young that they needed junior college guys. I kind of fell through the cracks and don't have an offer right now. They did say I could be a preferred walk-on, and they felt I would most likely earn a scholarship with my attitude and mind-set. They said it's possible that I could eventually even be a starter."
A chance to walk-on at Cincinnati is not Eric's only college opportunity. Eric has taken official visits to Central Michigan, Youngstown St. and Indiana St. with a Murray State visit this weekend. The first three have made official scholarship offers. Army, Navy, and Air Force are battling to get Eric's fifth and final visit. There is no doubt that Eric would have loved to have gotten an offer from Cincinnati because he's still considering being a "preferred" walk-on at UC despite these scholarship offers on the table. A "preferred" walk-on is guaranteed only a roster spot but no money. It's clear his decision is a tough one. "I've got no clue what I'm going to do. I haven't ruled out Army, Navy and Air Force yet. It's all still up in the air."
BCI will check back with Eric as we near the February 1st signing day.
