Both the men's and women's basketball teams were in action on Wednesday for the University of Cincinnati. While the men were away facing Louisville, the Bearcats women's team was home getting prepared to battle Georgetown in a Big East dual.
Georgetown entered the contest with a 1-4 mark in the Big East. Cincinnati has seen a rough go of it but entered with a .500 mark of 3-3. Casey Weldon was on hand for this record setting night for the Bearcats as they defeated the Hoyas 87-68 in front of just over 300 fans.
Shelly Bellman led the Bearcats with 26 points while Treasure Humphries set a new record for assists with 14 in the game. Four Bearcats would score in double figures as the team shot 52.6% from the field. But while that would impress many, it was the teams 62.5% from 3-pt land that really stood out in the end. Karen Twehues hit six three-pointers on the night but was outdone by Humphries.
Casey Weldon was on hand for the game and inside the Media Room after the game and brings this audio from the press conference.
