Bearcats Offer Safety

Coach Mark Dantonio is wasting little time working on the Class of 2007. Here is the latest offer handed out by the Bearcats.

Brian Peters is a 6' 4.5"/205 pound safety at Pickerington High School. He earned Division II 2nd team all-state honors last season. Despite being a very big high school safety, he reports a 4.5 forty time.

The last week of March has been exciting for Brian because he received an official scholarship offer Monday, March 27 from Miami and got an official offer from Coach Dantonio during his unofficial visit to UC on Friday, March 31.

This wasn't Brian's first visit to UC, "I came down here during the season with Chazz Anderson and Terrance White. The I came back for a junior day." Chazz Anderson is a Division II honorable mention all-state quarterback at Pickerington High School. Brian gave the new facilities at Cincinnati high marks. "It's top of the line. The facilities around here are amazing. I've been to Ohio State, Miami and a couple smaller colleges, and these facilities are great."

Since Brian's been offered by Cincinnati's biggest non-league rival, he was asked about the different sales pitches. "They present their school as strong as they can, and they throw in some quips back and forth."

Attending practice on the Field Turf at Nippert Stadium allowed Brian to see exactly what he'll be facing in a couple years compared to high school. "Of course, these players are quicker and the size is tremendous. It's definitely different."

Because of Brian's size, he could be a candidate for a position change in college. He was asked about that possibility. "They're bringing me in as a safety. Depending on how big I get, they could move me down to outside linebacker. I like being physical so I'll play wherever they put me."
