Today saw the Bearcats make an official offer to one of the top running backs in Ohio for the Class of 2007. Daniel Herron is no stranger to college football or playing for one of the top high school programs in the country. Warren Harding High School is known for producing top teams and top players and Herron is another in its long line. At 5'10 - 190 lbs. Herron has the build college coaches are looking for and several have already made early offers to the talented back. Bearcat Insider spoke with Herron on Thursday night about his offer and where the Bearcats stand.
BCI: Who is the coach recruiting you from UC?
Daniel Herron: Coach Pat Narduzzi is the coach recruiting me sir.
BCI: Are you excited about getting an offer from UC?
Daniel Herron: Yes sir. Very excited about Cincinnati offering me.
BCI: What are you looking for from a college program?
Daniel Herron: I want to get my education. I want a good education and to graduate. I also want the chance to play and help a team win.
BCI: What all programs have offered you so far?
BCI: You have a brother (David) who is at Michigan State, will that play a part in your recruiting?
Daniel Herron: Right now I want to take all of my visits so I make the right decision. David being at MSU could play into the picture but I'm looking to do what's best for me.
BCI: Have you been on campus at UC?
Daniel Herron: No, I was suppose to go during a Junior Day but couldn't make it. Coach Narduzzi wants to get me on campus as soon as possible.
BCI: What position do you see yourself playing in college?
Daniel Herron: I'm being recruited as a running back and I feel that's were I'll play in college.
BCI: Are you looking to camp this summer at UC?
Daniel Herron: Yes, Coach Narduzzi wants to get me there for at least a one day camp.
BCI: You come from a program known for winning and producing some top college football players. Do you feel the pressure or do you enjoy the pressure of knowing where you're from?
Daniel Herron: I'm proud to be from Warren Harding. I know all I need to do is work hard and it will pay off.
BCI: What do you see as your strengths?
Daniel Herron: My vision and power. I'm a hard nosed running that runs downhill. I'm not afraid to hit someone and I've got enough speed to get away from them also.
BCI: What do you feel you need to work on?
Daniel Herron: Everything... I want to keep getting better and will need to keep working on my entire game to get better.
BCI: How do you see things this season at Warren Harding?
Daniel Herron: We need some help along the o-line but we have almost all of our offensive skill players back and we've got a large part of our defense back. We should be a lot better then last year.
I want to thank Daniel for taking the time and talking about his excitement in getting an official offer from the Bearcats. I found Daniel to be a very nice young man who has his eyes wide open when it comes to college programs working to get his services. Bearcat Insider will stay in contact with Daniel as his recruiting heats up.
