Playing an over-matched Lakota East team, Celek and crew didn't have many problems in setting the tone for the afternoon.

"The first quarter I came out and did alright, but the second quarter I wasn't feeling very good and had to go into the locker room and get some treatment for dehydration at halftime. But we got the win and that's why we came here."
While many athletes don't feel the pressure after making their college commitment, Celek looked at it a little different.
|Celek knows how to use his feet and will become a force of a blocking tight end with his offensive line skills at UC.|
"I wanted to come out here and do well. If we would have lost this game, I would have felt real bad because we're here at UC and I don't want the coaches to feel they made a mistake in recruiting me."
But staying within the Celek family form, Garrett was quick to turn the interview and talk about his other teammates.
"I can't say enough about how Brian Jacob played today. He's a senior who was playing safety for us until our starting quarterback Brendan Jones went down with an injury. He started off slow but got it going and had a great game."
|Brent Celek says his younger brother is farther along then he was at the same age and will do well at UC.|
But while Garrett Celek has made his college commitment other members of the Lancers also will have to make choices about their future soon. While recruiting junkies know about Ben Martin, who else does Garrett feels should be getting some serious looks.
"We've got Vince Harris and he's a great player on both sides of the field for us. He earned MVP honors today. Hopefully I can get him to come to Cincinnati with me. Then we've got Billy Parker. He's also a very good player.
While Celek knows his future is planned, it's the today he's working the hardest for.
"We've got goals of winning the GCL and making a trip to state and winning a title. This is what our team has been working for and will continue to strive for this season.
This is not the first time I've had the chance to watch Garrett Celek play. Last season was the first time he caught my eye with his physical size and natural ability. Bearcat fans will be watching next season and into the future to see if the younger Celek and match his older brother on the field, but I can say he's already matched him off the field.
Bearcat Insider will also have an interview with Brent Celek about his younger brother and about the Bearcats upcoming season very soon.
