Who Will The Bearcats Play In 2007?

It's set! After much talk the 2007 University of Cincinnati football slate has been released. Here is the official release from Cincinnati today.

CINCINNATI, Ohio The BIG EAST Conference and the University of Cincinnati released the 2007 football schedule for Brian Kelly's first season as head coach of the Bearcats.

After facing the third-most difficult schedule in the nation last fall, UC sets its sights on another challenging slate.  Five of the Bearcats' 12 foes wrapped up their 2006 dockets by winning bowl games and four finished in the Top 25.

The Bearcats play host to Southeast Missouri State, Oregon State, Marshall, Louisville, Connecticut and West Virginia and play road games at Miami University, San Diego State, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, South Florida and Syracuse.                                                                                                                                     

"I am excited to face a high-caliber schedule that brings nationally ranked opponents to Nippert Stadium," said Kelly.  "Fans have an opportunity to see the highest level of college football played right here in Cincinnati."         

Kelly's first game of the 2007 campaign will take place at Nippert Stadium vs. Southeast Missouri State.  The season will kick off either on Thursday, Aug. 30 or Saturday, Sept. 1.

A week later, UC entertains Oregon State on Thursday night, Sept. 6.  Winners of the 2006 Sun Bowl, the Beavers will be one of three opponents facing the Bearcats for the first time.

The oldest non-conference rivalry in the nation is renewed on Sept. 15, when UC makes the commute to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami UniversityCincinnati hopes to retain the Victory Bell after last season's 24-10 triumph.

The following week, UC welcomes Marshall to Nippert Stadium.  Owning a 6-3-1 all-time record against the Thundering Herd, the Bearcats won the last meeting, 32-14, in the 2004 Fort Worth Bowl.

The Bearcats conclude their out-of-conference lineup on Sept. 29 at San Diego State.  It marks the first matchup ever against the Aztecs.                          

UC's BIG EAST slate begins on Oct. 6 at RutgersCincinnati returns home on Oct. 13, with hopes to win back the Keg of Nails from Louisville.  Road tilts at Pittsburgh on Oct. 20 and at South Florida on Nov. 3 bookend UC's open week.

On Nov. 10, UC welcomes Connecticut to Nippert Stadium.  The following week, West Virginia visits Cincinnati in the final home contest of the campaign.  UC finishes the regular season at Syracuse on Nov. 24.
