UC Could Get More Help On D-Line

The defensive line would probably be considered an area of strength for the 2007 Bearcat football squad, but even more help could arrive in time for August practice.

The Bearcat defensive front has experience and depth and could rotate as many as ten players through the four positions, but a past player is hoping to return in August to provide even more ability and versatility along the defensive front.

One of the surprise guests on the Nippert Stadium sideline for spring football practice was Curtis Young.  The Glenville product did not play in the International Bowl because of academic difficulties, but Curtis showed up at a spring practice to talk to academic counselors and Coach Kelly about the possibility of returning to the Bearcat squad.

Bearcat Insider spoke with Curtis on Wednesday night to get the latest on his possible return to Clifton.  "I start my classes on May 29th.  I just need to pass two classes and have a 2.0 to be eligible."

Curtis indicated that Coach Kelly had left the door open for his return.  "Coach Kelly said I could have my scholarship back if I got eligible."

In 2006, Young played in 12 games with 3 starts.  Despite making only 15 tackles, he was quite disruptive with 3.5 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 2 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble.
