Men's Basketball Recruiting Update

Bearcat Insider has picked up details regarding the 2008 basketball recruiting class being put together by Mick Cronin and his staff. These recruits are high value targets on the wish list and have shown great interest in becoming Bearcats.

With Yancy Gates (6-8 PF) and Darnell Wilkes (6-8 SF)  already committed to play in the red & black Coach Cronin continues to out work other top programs and appears to be closing in on more top notch commits.

Within the past week UC has gotten visits from Tony Mitchell, a 6.5 SF from Georgia ranked as the 28-th best at his position nationally by Scout.com. Also Dee Bost, a PG out of North Carolina has a visit scheduled for this week. Bost became the first player to win state championship MVP in both football and basketball in North Carolina's 3A division. Dee Bost who is best described as a leader and a winner is quickly becoming one of the most pursued guards in the country.

In June expect a visit from Tony Woods, a 6-10 Center from Rome, Georgia. Woods is an athletic big guy who can run the floor. He needs to make improvements in his offensive game but has all the tools to be a force inside. UC will likely add only one center to this class and another prospect looking closely at playing in Clifton is J'mison Morgan. J'Mison "Bobo" Morgan  is from Dallas South Oak Cliff, standing at 6-foot-10, 265 lb. he is a true, classic post player that fits the mold of a Big East post player. Morgan has improved his conditioning and worked to develop solid post skills that many high school prospects simply don't posses. Morgan is getting plenty of attention from other schools including Texas A&M and Kentucky.

Another hot prospect that the Bearcats appear to be closing in on is just up the river from Maysville, Ky. Darius Miller the 6.6 SF continues to show he's one of the best small forwards in the class of 08 while playing for the AAU D1 Greyhounds . Miller knows he's got room for improvement to his game but reports are that he works hard daily to improve his it. Miller has been guarded against naming who his top schools are at this point but several sources have indicated that UC is tops on his list.

A player just off the radar is Tyler Smith, the transfer from Iowa. BI has learned that Smith isn't completely out of the picture just yet. The Bearcat Insider team will continue to follow up on these player leads and bring you updated information as it becomes available.
