Kelly Receives Early Commitments

Bearcat recruiting efforts having hit full steam early this summer it's no surprise head coach Brian Kelly has already received some early interest in his Bearcats program. While we've not been able to talk about these prospects until now, these future Bearcats give new meaning to "Early Commitment". Learn more about these prospects in this special "FREE" recruiting story only on Bearcat Insider.

The month of June saw well over 600 high school seniors to-be looking to impress the coaching staff at the University of Cincinnati.  While several prospects walked away getting offers and some even making commitments, it was a few prospects from future recruiting classes that turned the heads of Bearcats head coach Brian Kelly and recruiting coordinator Mike Elston the most.  In fact this may be the earliest verbal commitments to the Bearcats program during its long history.

BCI spoke with head coach Brian Kelly about the early commitments to get his take.

"It's important that we build this program always looking forward.  Be it moving our recruiting deadlines up in order to have most of a class completed before we start our season, or to take a commitment from a player before most programs would even think of making an offer.  I'm not allowed to talk about specific prospects due to NCAA rules but I think you'll see we had some great young men in our camp we just couldn't pass up on.  Many are local kids who want to be part of the greatness this program is about to reach and we're excited about their commitment to Bearcats football."

While Coach Kelly can't talk about specific players Bearcat Insider was able to sit down with Bearcats recruiting coordinator Mike Elston for a few more details.

"I feel the efforts our staff made during summer camp have placed us in a position to have success now and in the future.  We held a special camp where many underclassmen took part and we came away knowing this was the future of University of Cincinnati football and we acted on it.  The kids took to the coaching staff and showed the desire to make Bearcats football their choice.  Not only have we locked down these prospects from our Big East foes, but we've also started the trend with these players as they'll be Bearcats instead of looking at the likes of Ohio State or other Big Ten programs we compete against.  I know we have a couple of future all-conference performers in this young group our fans will enjoy showing their support."

While we tried to get a few names, we found these prospects more shy than their older counterparts.  Here are a few photos of some of the players Brian Kelly and his staff received commitments from to support and be part of the Bearcats football family.

BCI NOTES:  While none of those pictured above have received scholarship offers from Brian Kelly or his staff, they did receive great instruction and a promise to provide them with great Big East Championship football now and in the future.  The quotes of Brian Kelly and Mike Elston are not exact quotes but quotes built from both coaches talking about how excited they were with the turnout for the youth camp this year.  If one of the youngsters pictured in the story is your child you can email Bearcat Insider at the following and tell us who your son is and we'll send you the photo by email.
