For J.K. Schaffer, he made the call to Brian Kelly and answered the Bearcats head coaches challenge to forgo any outside colleges and stay home in Cincinnati by becoming the 16-th member of the Bearcats football recruiting class for 2008.
An excited Schaffer explained how happy he was to be staying home to play his college football.
"I'm very excited, my parents are very excited. It's a dream come true as I've always wanted to be a Bearcat."
Schaffer, an outside linebacker prospect with speed and great physical skills had gone under the radar for much of the early portion of the spring and summer. Even with top performances college coaches had a few players rated equal or just a tad higher than the 6-foot-1 Schaffer who's posted forty times of 4.4 the past few months.
For the University of Cincinnati they get a solid commitment from a local player who understands the Bearcats football program is set to explode upon the major college scene and wants to make sure his name is attached to it.
