The Thursday night match up between the Reading Blue Devils and the Indian Hills Braves was more than a match up of Cincinnati Hills League teams; it also had ties to the city's Bengals and Bearcats.
Indian Hill linebacker Marcus Lewis is the son of Bengals
Head Coach Marvin Lewis and Indian Hill linebacker Mick Thomas is the son of
Bearcat Athletic Director Mike Thomas.
Reading Offensive Lineman/Defensive Lineman Doug Pike is the younger
brother of Bearcats QB Tony Pike.
Thursday night was a great night for football as the Indian Hills Braves
played host to the Reading Blue Devils.
Indian Hill would ultimately prevail 35 – 8.
Two junior players really stood out for Indian Hill on the evening. Ted Bolser, WR, 6'4" 190, had 4 catches
for 97 yards by half time. Ted
completed the scoring for the Braves with a 20 yard pass to the end zone in the
4-th quarter. Reading was unable to
match his size and athleticism on the outside. Ted camped at Louisville, Iowa and
past summer and is receiving interest from a number of Big 10 schools for
football and from a few D1 schools for lacrosse.
Wali Morris played CB on the right side of the Braves defense and saw few
passes thrown his way. The 6'1" 180
pound corner displayed speed in chasing down a Reading receiver that was running down field
for what appeared would be a touchdown before he was caught by Wali at the 7
yard line. The play was called back
by penalty against the Blue Devils.
Wali was credited with two solo tackles by halftime.
Reading featured freshman Running Back, Rashad Kyte in the backfield. Rashad is
generously listed on the Reading roster at 5'9", 170. Rashad displayed speed to the outside
for the Blue Devils and could be one to keep an eye on for the Blue Devils. Might Rashad follow in the footsteps of
former Reading Running Back DeShawn Wynn?
Bearcat QB Tony Pike was in the Reading stands cheering younger brother Doug
Pike on. Doug is a 6'1", 230 DT and
OLT for the Blue Devils.
Tony Pike is the only Bearcat currently on the roster from Reading High School. Tony was the Cincinnati Division II –
III player of the year as a senior.
Joey Thomas is the only Bearcat currently on the roster from Indian Hill High
Joey is a 6'2", 210 freshmen walk-on Wide Receiver.
