Newest Member To Insider Staff

Always on the lookout for those with a passion to cover the Bearcats, is happy to announce the newest member of our team Sam Elliott. No he's not the actor...

After lengthy talks, Sam Elliott has agreed to become part of the team at Elliott, who grew up in Cincinnati and Finneytown his whole life, always followed Bearcats basketball and attended his first game at the age of 12 sitting four rows behind Bob Huggins, Mick Cronin and the rest of the bench at that time.

"I always felt like I'd end up going to UC as a student one day, never imagining I'd end up covering that very basketball team I grew up watching. As I grew older my passion grew for all sports, and I'm excited to be attending UC right as the basketball and football teams are on upward swings."

A first year journalism student at UC, Elliott is a Finneytown High School graduate Class of 2007. A huge hockey fan (Blue Jackets), Elliott played inline hockey, tennis, and soccer during his high school days while also watching the Bengals, Notre Dame and his beloved Bearcats.

"I've loved the sports writing experience I've gotten to begin with at The News Record and now look forward to contributing to Look for me on the message boards and drop me a line if there is something you'd like for me to find out for you or a story you might feel is not being covered."

Sam's first article will be posted shortly as he recaps the Bearcats victory over West Virginia.

Welcome to the team Sam!
