One player many college programs are keeping an eye on is Sam Longo from Bellbrook High School (Ohio). The 6-foot-5, 260-pound lineman has been the recent talk of those in the recruiting business as many felt his reported weight was more in the 230-240- pound range. But that talk will soon end as Longo makes several trips to colleges.
"Right now I'm planning on going to two schools this coming weekend," Longo told Bearcat Insider. "On Saturday I'm planning on being at Penn State. My dad knows someone there and they've invited me to visit. I'll then go to Cincinnati on Sunday for their Junior Day."
On Monday Bearcat Insider visited with Longo at Bellbrook High School to get a closer look at what type of player he may be. On film Longo shows the ability to keep his feet and get to second tier defenders with great aggressiveness and explosion. He's very athletic and has a body style college coaches crave. There is no doubt that Sam Longo stands 6-foot-5 and at least 260-pounds at this time.
"I had injured my groin and wasn't able to do much lifting and it took its toll on me. I'm now over that and back to 100% and the weight is coming back. It's all good weight and I'm very happy with it."
As word spreads about Longo being a legit physical size look for several college programs to make offers. Right now Sam is holding offers from Miami and Bowling Green with Michigan State and Cincinnati both showing great interest.
We'll check with Sam after his Cincinnati visit to see if he received an offer and what his thoughts are about the Bearcats.
