Byrd On Outland Watch List

University of Cincinnati defensive tackle Terrill Byrd has been named to the 2008 Outland Trophy "Watch List" that was announced by the Football Writers Association of America.

With seventy players getting early consideration, Byrd will have a chance to battle for the Outland Trophy named after the late John Outland, a lineman at Pennsylvania at the turn of the century.

The Outland has been awarded since 1946 and last season saw LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey go home with the honor.

Candidates may be added during the season as the Football Writers Association of America will award the trophy to the best interior lineman in college football.

Byrd, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, earned All-American Honors after his junior season and will look to improve upon last season's campaign in 2008.

The Cincinnati area was well represented on the "Watch List" as Robert Brewster (Ball State – Wyoming HS), Steve Rehring (Ohio State – Lakota West HS), Ryan Stancheck (West Virginia – LaSalle HS) and Eric Wood (Louisville – Elder HS) were all named to the list.
