Tight End Will Visit

The University of Cincinnati football staff was impressed enough with this tight end to offer after his camp performance. With scholarship numbers shrinking he'll visit looking to learn more about the Bearcats program. We get the latest.

Daniel Vogelsang has worked hard preparing for this moment according to his mother Cindy. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound tight end out of Lexington (KY) Catholic High School showed well enough during his one day camp at the University of Cincinnati to earn a scholarship offer, but hasn't jumped on the Bearcats bandwagon as others started to fill up the class.

"We feel we may have gotten a late start in the process," said Daniel's mother. "If we'd realized how quick things were going to be we'd had Daniel in a position to make a faster decision."

While the door hasn't closed yet, the Vogelsang's hope their visit to campus in the coming weeks will happen before the Bearcats fill their vacant scholarships available.

"We have a family member who is a professor at Cincinnati and we're very familiar with the Cincinnati area since we're from the Northern Kentucky area. So we have some idea about the many changes that have gone on there. But we want to visit and make sure we have all the information we need to make a solid decision."

Mrs. Vogelsang spoke highly of how honest all the colleges have been during the recruiting process and fully understands scholarships are hard to come by. With Cincinnati being her son's main offer she knows their visit may end the process and provide her son a chance to use football as a tool to a higher education.

We'll continue to check in with the Vogelsang family after they make their campus visit in the coming weeks.
