Bearcat Insider All-Time Bearcats - No. 49

BearcatInsider.com has made the choice to work on putting together a list of the 50 most important Bearcats of all-time. While we're sure there will be some argument over the final list we felt it was time to look back and recognize 50 great members of the UC football program to date. Today we have No. 49.

Bearcat fans will always remember the name of our No. 49 All-Time Bearcat. How can anyone not remember a player with the first name of Tinker.

Tinker Keck did just what head coach Rick Minter said he'd do upon arriving on campus after a stint at Hutchinson Community Junior College. The Bearcats head coach told fans to remember the name and several years later fans still remember.

The Kansas native and Bearcat fans got a break as Keck played for Rob Ryan whose brother was University of Cincinnati defensive coordinator Rex Ryan and the rest is history.

While listed as a safety during his career fans will always remember Keck for his performances as a punt return specialist for the Bearcats.

One look at the Bearcats record books and you'll see Keck's name all over the pages of information on punt returns from his three seasons on campus.

For his career Keck returned a total of 68 punts placing him third All-Time but first in return yards with 804 and 4 touchdowns. In fact Keck returned 2 punts for scores in the same game against Louisville as he went 44 yards for a score and 78 during the 1997 season.

Keck took his chances in the NFL signing with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent in April of 2000. Keck made it until the final week of the preseason before cut sending him to the XFL for the Los Angeles Xtreme.

While Keck's playing career may have ended without him getting a chance to play in a NFL game, he still got a shot with the XFL before ending his career.

Since then Keck has appeared on a television game show and done infomercials.
