New Player Spotlight Reuben Johnson

One of the main questions asked by fans is how new players are doing. While these newest Bearcats are restricted from talking with members of the media, we can breakdown how they look and what should be expected out of them in the future.

How Johnson Came To UC

Reuben Johnson was a highly sought after prospect in the Class of 2008 out of New Jersey. With offers from West Virginia, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Iowa and Boston College to name a few, Johnson had everything set excepted the test score needed.

In November of 2008 Johnson was ready to pick up the three points needed to be eligible and pick a school to attend. At that time all of his offers were still on the table with many feeling West Virginia would be the school of choice.

But one coach that stayed with Johnson when things didn't work out was Cincinnati's Coach Molnar and with a good friend on the team (Lynell Payne) Johnson signed and enrolled for classes in January.

So Far This Spring

Johnson isn't wasting time this spring as he is showing his athletic ability. With a great explosion Johnson is a player you can see fighting for an early chance to be on the field. With the need for players to step up this spring in the defensive backfield, Johnson is one showing signs of pushing others for a spot.

While it's too early to say don't be surprised if the New Jersey native shows well by the time spring comes to a close.

Strength: Explosion
Weakness: Getting back into football mode
