Breakdown: One player that will be interesting to see in camp will be Travis Kelce who has been moved from quarterback to tight end. If healthy Kelce has a great frame and is a very good athlete. But the bulk of the action will go to senior Kazeem Alli is he shows the ability to keep Ben Guidugli off the field. While Alli may have made one of the biggest catches in school history he's not reach the level many felt he would coming out of high school. Guidugli is a lunch pail work out freak who continues to improve each and every day. If your looking for a breakout player for this season look at Guidugli as he could see as much time on the field as anyone.
The Big If: With the loss of Dominick Goodman the tight end position could see more action than in years past. Someone needs to step up and take the position by the throat and claim it fulltime. Robinson has the talent but Guidugli has the edge. If all three fail there is a big drop off in talent.
Our Call: I really like the work ethic and commitment Ben Guidugli has shown since coming to campus. It would have been easy for the younger brother of former Bearcats great Gino Guidugli to just cruise. But there is a major drive in the younger Guidugli to have great success and he's willing to do what ever he must to be one of the top players on the field.
Confidence Rating: There are questions at this position as well as a new coach so there will be a small learning curve but not too much. Right now I'd give the tight ends a confidence rating of 5. Last season Alli and Guidugli pulled down a combined 30 balls for 353 yards and four touchdowns. Kelly's offense is set up for tight ends to post good numbers and this will be a year that should happen. As I've said I've always liked what Alli is capable of doing but Guidugli could be the main man if Robinson doesn't come around.
