The theme for the Indians this year appears to be "Play Fast" as Coach Fitzpatrick ran behind his team during the practice extorting them to "Play Fast" and sprint to the line as they progressed down the field on each successive play. Coach Fitzpatrick served as an assistant coach on the last Fairfield team to make the state playoffs and is determined to make the Indians a state playoff caliber team again.
Fairfield runs a Pro-Style multiple I formation that features Arryn Chenault at the Wide Receiver position. Defensively the Indians run a base 50 defense with Arryn at the Strong Safety position; the same position for which he was recruited to Cincinnati by Assistant Coach Kerry Coombs.
To prepare himself for the coming season and his future as a Bearcat Arryn worked on his footwork, backpedaling and hips so he could improve his coverage ability. He also improved his 40 time and was clocked recently at 4.49. Cincinnati quickly earned his commitment as he had hoped to stay close to home to play his college football and really loved the family atmosphere he felt with the other freshman recruits.
He was quick to share that he has already qualified academically and is working hard towards early graduation so that he can enroll early and practice with the Bearcats this spring. He plans to earn a degree in education and would like to give back to the community by being a teacher and a coach.
Insider wishes Coach Fitzpatrick, Arryn Chenault and the Fairfield Indians the best of luck this season.
Keep an eye on 6' 4" 235 lbs Junior Defensive End Robert Mincy. Mincy has major college size and should get some looks from some programs.
Senior Tight End Nick Kaminsky quickly caught my eye by making several difficult passes and showing good hands throughout the practice. Nick started at Wide Receiver last year for the Indians but was injured in the 3rd game and was out for the year. Listed at 6'4" 215 lbs in the Fairfield program Nick could earn some offers as the year progresses.
