Arryn Chenault – Signing Day

With Father Ed, sister Ariyanna and a large family contingent Arryn Chenault signed with the Cincinnati Bearcats on NLID. Bearcat Insider was on hand.

Fairifeld High School held a National Signing Day Program at the school for all their athletes; including Bearcat signee Arryn Chenault. Head Coach Aaron Fitzstephens was effusive in his praise for the three year starter, 1st team all league and 2nd team all district safety/wide receiver for the Indians. Arryn has been selected for the North/South All Star game; the 1st Fairfield player in 20 years to be given that honor.

Throughout the coaching change from Brian Kelly to Butch Jones, Arryn has stayed steadfast in his Bearcat commitment and gained praise from Coach Jones for his leadership. Asked about the recruiting transition Arryn described it as smooth with Coach Kerry Coombs recruiting him as a member of Brian Kelly's staff and he continued to recruit him afterwards as a member of Coach Butch Jones staff. Arryn took his official visit the week before the Sugar Bowl and renewed his commitment with Coach Jones.

When Bearcat Insider visited Arryn during the fall he had discussed the possibility of enrolling early at Cincinnati but has decided against it so he could play basketball for Fairfield. As a basketball player Arryn was described by his coach as a lock down defender at the forward position that is often tasked with guarding much taller players. A transition skill the Bearcats hope he'll bring with him to the safety position against taller wide receivers.
