Washington building relationship with UC

The success of the Cincinnati football program, and its offense, has begun attracted a number of top-quality receiving recruits, and the beat goes on as there is mutual interest between the Bearcats and the Maple Heights (OH) wide receiver.

While he said he does not have an official top-five or top-10 list right now, Shaquille Washington said he is fond of Cincinnati right now.

"Right now, Cincinnati stands close to the top of my list," Washington said. "I'm building a great relationship with the coaching staff at UC, and I like the offense they have installed. Everything is looking good right now (with UC)."

Washington, the No. 74 rated receiver by Scout.com, said that head coach Butch Jones has headed up his recruitment for Cincinnati, and like what he sees and hears from the new Bearcat coach.

"I like the way he interacts with the players. From what I hear the players have really taken to him well at Cincinnati," Washington said.

Washington, the three-star 2011 recruit, said he likes the passing offense Jones ran at Central Michigan and is bringing to the Queen City, and thinks he can step into the slot position when D.J. Woods graduates in two seasons.

All of that fits into what the speedy slot receiver is looking for in a school he decides to attend. "Basically I'm looking for a good relationship with a coaching staff and a style of offense (that suits me), and then I'm looking for someplace that I can look forward to spending my four years of college," Washington said.

While there is no current timetable for his decision, Washington did say he didn't want the process to drag on too long into his senior year of high school, saying he would like to enroll early in college if possible.

Washington has been a hot name in recruiting lately holding five offers from BCS schools with that number almost assuredly to grow over the summer.

Washington has a busy schedule planned this summer; going on the Raw Talent Bus Tour which Washington says will visit 12 schools from June 10-26. The plan is to visit Cincinnati, North Carolina, Duke, Eastern Carolina, West Virginia, UCLA, Cal and Stanford among others.

Aside from the bus tour, Washington said he plans on playing in the Gridiron Kings in Orlando, Florida on July 23.
