When opponents of Cincinnati (Ohio) Oak Hills High School line up to play defense do not be surprised if they take a double take when they look at the right offensive guard and tackle. No, they are not seeing double, just twin brothers Derrek and Dustin Ross.
One of the surprises of Friday night's games in the Crosstown Showdown was twin brothers Derrek and Dustin Ross
Dave Berk, Scout.com
Derrek (#74) stands 6-foot-4, 250-pounds and lines up at right guard.
Dustin (#72) stands 6-foot-4, 250-pounds lines up at right tackle.
The pair makes "Double Trouble" for opposing teams and for good reasons.
Both Derrek and Dustin already show great physical size when looking at offensive linemen in the Class of 2012. Both players have a good frame with long arms and show above average feet. The one thing both of them do is keep their balance and while I do not feel, they are natural benders they do not struggle getting into position.
Both Ross brothers project as guards, but in the right system could see some college coaches looking to make them tackles. Both need to continue to build their strength and Highlands strength coach Tim Swanger feels both players will play at a high level.
Swanger, who served as strength coach at the University of Cincinnati from 1998 through the 2006 football season should know having coached many top players during his college career.
Academics should also not be a problem as both have been reported to be straight "A" students.
