Tigers make the top five

One of Georgia's top-five 2011 outside linebackers plans to hit Clemson for one of his five official visits.

OLB Cedrick Cooper Profile

Lithonia High School outside linebacker Cedrick Cooper claims close to 10 offers, including one from Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers.

Cooper recently caught up with CUTigers for the latest on his recruitment.

"I'm definitely going to Clemson for an official visit. I think I'm going to Ole Miss also. Tennessee, I'm not sure yet," he said.

Dates for those trips haven't been set.

Along with Clemson, South Carolina, North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Middle Tennessee have sent in offers.

No schools are standing out.

"Everybody is the same right now," Cooper said.

He'll hold off on his decision until signing day.

"I'm looking to getting close with everybody and seeing what the school is about. I did all my research on everybody so far," Cooper said.

He likes what he's learned while researching Clemson.

"They have a high graduation rate," Cooper said. "It's a real college town. Every one of the coaches are real cool. They don't put on a show when they offer you to come in and take a look at things. I met some of the players. Everybody was friends. There weren't separate groups. Everybody was together like family."

Cooper last visited Tigertown during the summer. He was in town for the afternoon during Swinney's camp but didn't go through drills. Prior to that trip, he'd visited one other time.

South Carolina, Ole Miss and Tennessee were also destinations for visits this summer.

Through two games this fall, Cooper has 22 tackles. He had over 100 as a junior.

Clemson defensive ends coach Chris Rumph is Cooper's main recruiter.

"Clemson has a good chance for me," Cooper said.

The three-star defender is currently ranked as the No. 43 outside linebacker in the country by Scout.com.
