Five-star LB shuffles visits

Travis Hughes' official visit for next weekend's game against Georgia Tech will be rescheduled for later this fall. But Clemson fans shouldn't sweat the change in dates.

OLB Travis Hughes Profile

The five-star middle linebacker, who's being recruited by the Tigers as an outside linebacker, has a conflict at Kempsville High School (Virginia Beach, Va.) on Oct. 23.

"I've got homecoming that weekend, so I might be homecoming king," Hughes recently told CUTigers. "I can't attend that day. Homecoming is going to be on Saturday. I'm going to try to do it for the N.C. State game in November."

He did make his way down to Chapel Hill last weekend for an official visit to North Carolina.

"It was really good. It was an awesome game," Hughes said. "The whole thing was awesome. With coach Butch Davis, I found out a lot of stuff that was interesting. That was reassuring for me…it was a pretty solid visit."

It was the third official visit of the fall. Hughes has already seen Virginia Tech and Maryland.

Following the trip to North Carolina, he's listed the Tar Heels as No. 1.

"I was really impressed by the visit. There was a lot of stuff up there that helped me out with the process," Hughes said. "I can't wait to get down to Clemson. I think those are the schools that are really battling with everybody with everybody, for me to go to.

"I saw the game [on Saturday] and I see what they're both missing, and where they want me to fill in at. It's a great opportunity."

He has recently exchanged e-mails with Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier, his main recruiter to Tigertown.

"They're just excited about me coming down there for a visit," Hughes said. "Everything was setup [for next weekend] before this homecoming thing." Top Stories
