Elite 2012 QB loves Clemson visit

A four-star quarterback prospect in the class of 2012, who also doubles as a baseball player, gave his first visit to Clemson high marks.

QB Jameis Winston Profile

Hueytown (Ala.) junior Jameis Winston arrived to Tigertown close to 1 o'clock with his uncle, cousin, 2011 wide receiver/outside linebacker Jervohnte Riles, and friend Marcus Turner.

CUTigers caught up with Winston after the visit.

"It was a great experience. I really liked it down there. They treated me real good…I was treated really nicely. I felt like everybody knew me, but it was my first time down there," Winston said. "It felt like I'd been there before."

Winston spoke one-on-one with football head coach Dabo Swinney and baseball head coach Jack Leggett.

Asked about the conversation with Swinney, "Just getting my family down there so they can get around the campus. He hopes I take an official visit next year.

"The baseball thing - he can work around stuff. If I just want to play baseball my first year there, he would be able to pull some strings to get me what I need. He wants me to be a Clemson Tiger."

And the conversation with Leggett, "He told me how him and coach Swinney's relationship were. He told me about Kyle Parker, how he worked everything out. He would allow me to do the same thing."

Winston said the visit has put Clemson further up his list.

"I felt really, really loved down there," he said.

The four-star signal caller, who could warrant five-star consideration after the season, has made several trips this fall- including one to the Alabama-Florida game earlier this month.

He also spoke with Nick Saban and Alabama head baseball coach Mitch Gaspard as well.

The 6-4 quarterback also sports a 4.0 GPA in the classroom as well and boasts offers from Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Miami among others.
