Shrine Bowl preview

Practice for this year's Shrine Bowl starts at 9:30 Monday morning when the best players from North and South Carolina take the field at Spartanburg High School.

Five Clemson commits will be there and so will several others big-name targets left on the Tigers' 2011 target board.

The 74th annual game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Wofford's Gibbs Stadium.

South Carolina

Dorman - WR Charone Peake
The headliner among the skill players in this year's game, Peake will likely be the favorite target for quarterbacks Justin Worley and Everett Golson.

Wren - OT Shaq Anthony

Anthony will see plenty of stiff competition during practice against the likes of Phillip Dukes, Jadeveon Clowney and both Gerald Dixons.

Mauldin - C Ryan Norton
Same goes for Norton, who will spend time playing center for the Sandlappers.

Dorman - DB Adam Humphries
Recruited to Clemson as a wide receiver, Humphries will play defensive back for the Sandlappers this week. We'll keep a close eye on his practice battles with Peake.

North Carolina

Jack Britt - TE Eric MacLain
MacLain will be one of the most physically imposing players at this year's game. His work on the line as a blocker and downfield as a receiver should be interesting to watch.

South Carolina

South Pointe - DE Jadeveon Clowney
The nation's top player could make an official visit to Clemson, but earlier this fall, an unofficial visit to Clemson for the South Carolina game fell through.

Manning - DT Phillip Dukes
South Carolina's top defensive tackle considers Clemson and South Carolina his leaders. Official visits to both schools, plus Alabama, are scheduled.

Marlboro County - OLB Lateek Townsend
He's already taken officials to South Carolina and Southern Cal. No others have been scheduled.

Scotts Branch - TE Jerell Adams

The three-star tight end is being recuited to Clemson as a defensive end. He considers Clemson and South Carolina as the front-runners, with the Gamecocks getting the edge. He's scheduled officials to Arkansas, South Carolina and Clemson.

North Carolina

Anson - LB Stephone Anthony
The headliner on the North Carolina team has scheduled official visits to Clemson, Florida and N.C. State.

Jeoffrey Pagan will not play in this year's game, because of a knee injury.
Asheville - DE Jeoffrey Pagan
He'll be sitting out of the game because of a knee injury, but will still be around all week. He visited Georgia officially this past weekend and will take trips to Clemson, Alabama and LSU. The former Florida commit could also visit the Gators.

Jack Britt - DT Devonte Brown
The North Carolina commit is still receiving a lot of interest from Clemson. The Tigers and Tar Heels were neck and neck during much of his recruitment. An official visit to Tigertown is a possibility.

Anson - DB Brandon Ellerbe
The former Clemson commit and current North Carolina commit has scheduled an official visit to Clemson—the weekend of the football team banquet—the same date Anthony will visit. Top Stories
