Brownell lands three-star pledge

K.J. McDaniels, who was offered just five days ago, has committed to play at Clemson.

One of the top 2011 wing players from Alabama visited Clemson for last Saturday night's win over Miami - and apparently he liked what he saw.

"I called him [Friday] night, about 9 or 10. I just told him I was ready to commit," McDaniels said. "He was excited, real happy. He welcomed me to the family."

McDaniels told CUTigers earlier this week, "In a couple of weeks, we're probably going to make a decision, but Clemson has been the best visit so far that I've taken," he said. "It looks like we may be choosing Clemson."

After committing, he said it's the right fit.

"I feel like the school fits the way I play and I feel like I fit with their system," McDaniels said. "I like the academics and the entire staff, and the entire school. The atmosphere of Littlejohn, the fans—it was all great."

Brownell and company have now secured three verbal commitments for their 2011 recruiting class, including four-star forward Bernard Sullivan and guard T.J. Sapp.

McDaniels described himself as a hard-worker on the court.

"I'm going to come in and play as hard as I can, just play my heart out," he said. Top Stories
