Still communicating with the Tigers

Amid the coaching changes at Clemson, one of the nation's top 2012 quarterbacks has been in touch with two members of the Tigers' staff.

QB Zeke Pike Profile

Dixie Heights High School (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) junior quarterback Zeke Pike has spoken to both recruiting coordinator/wide receivers coach Jeff Scott and his dad, offensive guards and centers coach Brad Scott.

With just a few weeks left in the 2011 period, Pike's yet to communicate with new Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris.

The four-star quarterback would like to get a first-hand look at the new changes.

"I want to get down there again, maybe in the spring, just see how things are going with the change," Pike said. "I don't think too much is affected."

He still has a few things to learn about the Tigers' new offensive coordinator.

"I'm not too familiar, just the little bit I've heard from coach Scott--the wide receivers coach," Pike said. "That's all. I'm going to have to start the relationship better and get to know him a little better. But, obviously, coach [Dabo] Swinney felt like that's what was best for the team, so I think the program will benefit from it."

In the meantime, he's occupied with basketball. Until then, any visits are on pause.

"We'll probably head out and hit a bunch of places this spring. Hopefully I can have it narrowed down to a top 10 and really just go after those schools hard," Pike said. "I'm going to have to narrow it down here soon."

As a junior, Pike had 2,400 yards and 26 touchdowns through the air and rushed for 1,300 and 18 scores.

He hopes to have a commitment made before the season. If not that soon, Pike expects to have one a few weeks into his senior season. Top Stories
