Clemson's first 2012 commitment?

One of the best in-state offensive linemen could be a few months away from making his decision. In the fall, he named Clemson as his favorite. Is that still the case?

OG Patrick Destefano Profile

The last time CUTigers caught up with Dorman (Roebuck) offensive lineman Patrick Destefano, he claimed the Tigers as his leader.

"I've narrowed my choices down to five schools," he said. "I don't want to disclose my five schools yet, but Clemson is right up there with the top of them."

In the spring, he'll visit all five of those favorite schools.

"Hopefully, I'll have all my questions answered by that point, and I might have my decision ready by this summer," Destefano said.

The biggest reason why he's ready to have a decision in the first half of 2010, he's planning on an early enrollment.

Destefano currently holds 10 offers. Along with Clemson, South Carolina, Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Stanford, Northwestern and Tennessee have offered.

The Scout.com three-star was disappointed to see Billy Napier and Andre Powell let go.

"It's very unfortunate that they had to fire coach Powell and coach Napier, but that's the business side of it. I really liked coach Napier," he said.

Destefano has yet to meet new offensive coordinator Chad Morris, but he looks forward to meeting him.

In his previous interview with CUTigers, Destefano listed Stanford and Penn State behind Clemson.

Four former Dorman players are expected to be on Clemson's roster this fall. Brandon Thomas and Ryan Pruitt are already there. Charone Peake and Adam Humphries are committed to the 2011 class.
