OG Patrick Destefano Profile
The junior from Roebuck wished that he'd been able to meet Robbie Caldwell, who's slated to take over when current offensive guards and centers coach Brad Scott moves into an administrative role.
"I was able to catch up with coach Brad Scott and coach Jeff Scott, just to see what the situation is," Destefano said. "Unfortunately, I was not able to meet coach Caldwell for the first time. I'm going to get back up there for a visit and meet him."
Since the Scout.com three-star prospect claims Clemson as "one of the top schools," Destefano has studied up on Caldwell.
"He sounds, to me, exactly like coach Brad Scott. I can't wait to meet him," he said.
What was the best part of the trip on Saturday?
"The one thing that stuck out to me, it didn't really have anything to do with Clemson, it was more of the recruits. I had a great time. I walked around with a bunch of really good guys," Destefano said. "It was good being with another highly recruited tackle. Oliver Jones, he and I are friends. And I was able to meet some other really cool guys there."
He and Jones first connected while in Clemson for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
"We just see each other around a bunch. We're just able to hang out and catch up," Destefano said.
He's enjoyed the friendship they've developed over the last several months.
"It's good having someone who's in my similar situation that I can talk to…it really is a unique experience," Destefano said.
Clemson is among the five schools that he currently considers his favorites. The other four weren't disclosed, and neither was Clemson's standing in that group.
