On signing day, new Clemson defensive ends coach Marion Hobby extended an offer to a three-star defensive end from Georgia.

Stephenson (Stone Mountain) junior Jarontay Jones was on the receiving end of that offer.

"I've talked to coach Hobby since he came over there. That's who's been recruiting me to Clemson," he told CUTigers recently.

Hobby offered during Wednesday's phone call.

"He was just talking about how it is down there, how he wants me to come down and play for him," Jones said. "He was saying how they got a good class, and he definitely wants me to be a part of that class next year."

There's a mutual interest.

"I've got a good interest in Clemson. I haven't visited down there, so I plan to visit down there soon," he said.

Jones has over 10 offers. Several of which are from the SEC and ACC, including Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami and Georgia Tech.

He recently attended the Yellow Jackets' junior day. Plans have been made for trips to Tennessee, Georgia and Florida.

Although Jones has yet to set any plans for a Clemson visit, it's one that he definitely plans on making.

"My mom said she might take us down there, because she really likes coach Hobby," he said. "He came to one of my games, and she talked to him there."

Hobby's been on Jones since his previous job as defensive coordinator at Duke.

As a junior, Jones had 92 tackles, 18 sacks, 24 tackles for loss and a pair of fumble recoveries.

He said there's "not any particular order" to the schools he's interested in.
