DT Carlos Watkins Profile
Chase High School (Forrest City) junior defensive tackle Carlos Watkins has since picked up a few more with Florida, Georgia Tech and N.C. State since joining the mix.
Duke and North Carolina are also in regular contact.
"It's probably Clemson and Florida," Watkins told CUTigers, when asked what schools he favors. "Those are the two I'm looking at right now."
When Watkins got word over the phone that Clemson was offering, he spoke to each coach on the Tigers' defensive staff.
"I first talked to Dan Brooks. He's been recruiting me," Watkins said. "Then, I talked to coach [Dabo] Swinney. Then, I talked to coach [Kevin] Steele. I talked to coach [Marion] Hobby and then I talked to coach [Charlie] Harbison."
He first visited Clemson last season for the N.C. State game. Recruitment from Clemson picked up shortly thereafter. His last visit to Tigertown was for the January junior day.
A visit to Chapel Hill for the North Carolina junior day is scheduled for this weekend.
He plays both ways as a junior. On offense, he lines up at fullback, wide receiver and tight end. Watkins had 50 tackles, 14 sacks and 29 tackles for loss as a defensive lineman/linebacker.
Watkins plans to make a decision before the start of his senior season.
