Tigers still on top for Bama DB

One of the top defensive backs in Alabama's 2012 class has listed Clemson as his favorite for quite some time now.

CB Trae Elston Profile

Oxford junior defensive back Trae Elston, who has offers from all over the ACC and SEC, recently caught up with CUTigers for the latest in his recruitment.

"They've come by the school," he said, when asked about his involvement with Clemson. "Coach [Charlie] Harbison's come by the school, the defensive backs coach. Sometime, I have a few phone calls there."

Harbison, who's entering the third-year of his second stint with the Tigers, recruits the state of Alabama.

Elston said he is recruited the heaviest by Clemson, Auburn and LSU.

Last time you spoke with CUTigers, you named Clemson as your No. 1 school. Is that still the case?

"That's still the case, but I mean, all schools are up there. But, they're my number one," Elson said.

As a junior, he finished with 104 tackles, three interceptions and eight pass breakups. On offense, Elston had 28 catches for 528 yards and six touchdowns. He also returned a punt and a kick for touchdown.

Elston said Clemson is recruiting him as an athlete—wide receiver or safety.

He doesn't plan on making a decision until next signing day.
