Elder gets news from Swinney

Chaz Elder took a visit up to Clemson on Friday and he left not knowing just how interested the Tigers were in him, but he found that out on Monday evening.

"I just got off the phone with Coach [Dabo] Swinney and Clemson has offered me a full scholarship," Chaz Elder told Scout Monday night. "Coach Swinney told me that they really like me and that I have a full football scholarship. It is exciting to hear that. He told me he wants me to visit them again soon."

This offer came just a few days after Elder visiting Death Valley. He knew the Tigers were interested in him, but he wasn't sure how much.

"I honestly had no idea if they were close to offering me or not. I knew they liked me because they invited me to visit, but I could not tell if they were going to offer me any time soon when I left. I got the news tonight and it was kind of surprising."

The Tigers have jumped into Elder's top five with Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Tennessee right now and he liked what he saw this past Friday.

"I like the atmosphere up there and to be honest, I liked everything while I was there," said the 6-foot-3, 181 pound safety out of College Park (GA) Banneker. "I probably liked the academics the most just because of how they have it all planned out and how they support their players."

Just one day after he visited Clemson, Elder spent Saturday in Tallahassee at Florida State. He enjoyed his time there too.

"I liked the campus at FSU. It was big, it was nice, and I had a good time there. The campus tour really stood out to me there."

Elder will travel to Knoxville this weekend to visit Tennessee.
