Early interest from Tenn. QB

As Clemson continues to comb through the 2012 quarterback prospects, one of the top signal callers from Tennessee is interested in the Tigers.

QB Patton Robinette Profile

Maryville (Tenn.) junior quarterback Patton Robinette recently told CUTigers that Clemson is among the schools that he likes.

"I'm hearing a lot from Vanderbilt, Florida State, Wake Forest, Northwestern and Illinois," he said.

Memphis and Arkansas State are Robinette's first two offers. A high school teammate is pushing Clemson to take a closer look.

"My buddy Jay Guillermo has been trying to hook me up" Robinette said. "But I haven't heard from them in a while."

"We went on a visit down there in November and I talked to [defensive tackles] coach [Dan] Brooks. I got a letter from them in December."

For now, no school stands out ahead of the others.

"I don't really have any favorites, right now. I like Vanderbilt and Wake Forest," he said. "Those are two places that I've visited. No favorites, right now. I haven't really narrowed it down."

Robinette completed 104 of 152 passes from 1,875 yards and 23 touchdowns. He rushed 118 times for 970 yards and 11 touchdowns.

He's recently visited Vanderbilt and Wake Forest and plans to visit Florida State in March.
