The best one yet

A visit to Clemson for the March Junior Day was the best recruiting visit that this 2012 linebacker from Charlotte, N.C. has taken.

MLB Nick Dawson Profile

While Berry Academy junior linebacker Nick Dawson was in Tigertown for Junior Day, he was able to spend time one-on-one with defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and tight ends coach/special teams coordinator Danny Pearman.

"The one-on-one time with coach Steele. That was great," Dawson told CUTigers.com. "I liked the weight room, talking to coach Pearman. But the one-on-one time with coach Steele, that set it all off."

The rising senior likes what his future would look like if he were to make a commitment to Clemson.

"[Steele] said he was looking for a tall middle linebacker that could move and has great hip flexibility. He said I fit that description," Dawson said. "If I commit there, they wouldn't be looking for anybody else. He also said, in this recruiting process, we're at the top of the totem pole. It's our responsibility.

"Clemson was actually the best visit I ever took—their Junior Day."

He's also visited North Carolina, N.C. State and Louisville. He could be visiting Auburn later this month.

Several ACC schools have offered, the most recent coming from Miami.

Florida State, Virginia Tech and Alabama are also expressing interest.

Are there any favorites?

"I'm all open."

As for a time frame for a decision, Dawson said he doesn't have one.

"Whenever the time comes, that's when I want to do it. I don't have a set time," he said.

Dawson recorded 93 tackles and six interceptions as a sophomore. As a junior, he had 113 tackles, five sacks, six forced fumbles and an interception.
