Elite WR finally visits Clemson

One of the state's top wide receivers in the class of 2013 stopped by Clemson for the Tigers' most recent Junior Day. Where else has he been? And what are his plans for the summer?

When it's all said and done, Lake Marion High School (Holy Hill) sophomore wide receiver Mike Williams will be considered one of the state's top prospects for his class.

He's both in-state schools this month. First, he was in Clemson.

"It was pretty good. They have a nice campus," Williams told CUTigers.com. "The coaching staff, I like it. I like that they're pretty hard on their athletes about their education. They want them to graduate and go get a good job."

"I like how they let us put on the jerseys then run down the hill, like they do before a game. That was a lot of fun."

Recruiting coordinator/wide receivers coach Jeff Scott invited Williams to attend the Dabo Swinney Football Camp this June, and he accepted the invitation.

Williams' trip to South Carolina was his first visit to the Gamecocks' campus.

"That was pretty good, too. We took a tour of the campus. It was nice. Alshon [Jeffery] and [Marcus] Lattimore talked to us. They're practice was pretty good, too," he said.

A visit to Florida is also in the works.

The sophomore claims offers from Clemson, North Carolina and Duke.

Are there any favorites, right now?

"No, still thinking."

Last season, Williams had 42 catches for over 700 yards and five touchdowns. He also threw for 450 yards and three scores.
