Clemson offer on the way?

This in-state offensive tackle talks about his recent trip to Clemson and a possible offer that could be in the works soon.

OT Jonathan McLaughlin Profile

Mauldin High School offensive tackle Jonathan McLaughlin arrived to Clemson around 10 that morning with 2011 Tiger signee Ryan Norton.

"We just sat down and talked to some of the players. I talked to all the coaches this time. I got to meet all of them," McLaughlin said. "When we first got there, coach [Dan] Brooks greeted us. Then, we talked to coach [Kevin] Steele. That was the first-time I ever talked to him."

What stood out the most about Saturday?

"I've been there a couple of times, so I'd seen everything," he said. "But the hill was probably the things that stood out the most. We got to run down the hill."

This Saturday, McLaughlin will either visit Georgia Tech or Wake Forest. He's already visited Wake Forest once this spring. Duke has also hosted him for a visit this spring.

East Carolina and Wake Forest are currently his only offers.

Of the schools that haven't offered, McLaughlin said two are currently expressing the most interest.

"They're going to come see me in the spring. South Carolina is a school, too. They're going to come in the spring also," he said.

McLaughlin added, "Clemson told me they were coming during the spring. Hopefully, they're going to make their decision then."

That's the message he received from head coach Dabo Swinney.

"I talked to coach Swinney a lot when I was down there," McLaughlin said. "We talked about the spring. I might go to their camp. I'm thinking about going to camp this summer."

Brooks serves as McLaughlin's primary recruiter to Clemson. Top Stories
