Hobby makes quick trip to Lithonia

This four-star offensive guard has seen plenty of coaches walking through the halls of Lithonia High School this May. How often is he in touch with Clemson? Who's going to receive a visit this summer? And when might a decision be reached?

OG Joe Harris Profile

The Clemson defensive ends coach made his trip last Tuesday.

"It's been a lot of them," Harris recently told CUTigers.com. "I know coach Marion Hobby, from Clemson, he's been there. Coach [Lorenzo Ward from South Carolina, he's been there…a coach from Mississippi State has been there. Florida State came by. Coach [Joe] Speed from Georgia Tech, he came by. Coach Rodney Gardner from Georgia, he's been there also.

"I missed a day at school, but I know a coach from Marshall came by. Louisville, there were some others when I wasn't there. It's been quite a few. Coach [Tommy] Thigpen from Auburn, he came too. A coach from North Carolina, too."

Recruiting-wise, it's been a quiet spring for the Scout.com No. 9 ranked offensive guard. At the Nike Football Training Camp in Athens last month, Harris was named OL MVP.

"I haven't really talked to any coaches in the spring," he said. "I've been busy from the whole recruiting process."

Clemson is still after Harris "pretty hard." He reportedly has offers from Purdue, Mississippi State, Louisville, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, South Florida, Minnesota and N.C. State.

Harris currently claims no favorites.

"Things never changed with my colleges," he said. "I'm just looking at my offers. There are so many colleges that I could actually go to. I'm just, right now, trying to choose the best one."

Travel plans for the summer aren't set in stone.

"This summer, I'll just do one camp. I think I'll do the Alabama camp. I might stop by a couple of colleges and see what's going on. We might make a trip down to Florida," Harris said.

"I'm looking at everybody and seeing what everybody has to offer."

He plans to announce a decision before the start of his senior season.
