Morris visits Voytik

Another day and yet another quarterback to evaluate for Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris. Wednesday's stop was in Cleveland, Tenn. to see Chad Voytik.

There was a brief encounter before Voytik's practice began that afternoon.

"He was there for the whole practice," Voytik told Wednesday evening. "I actually parked my car and he was there walking by from his car down to the field house…I think he was probably there from 2:45 to probably 5:45."

Wake Forest, Syracuse and Louisville also checked in on the three-star at Cleveland High School on Wednesday.

The first-year Clemson coach is in frequent contact with the No. 33 ranked quarterback in the class of 2012.

"I Facebook him a lot, actually. I don't call him as much," Voytik said. "I haven't been able to call many coaches as I'd like this offseason, with my busy schedule—sports and mainly school. I have a pretty busy schedule. I've been Facebooking him a lot."

He and Morris have communicated since the visit.

"He's just been telling me he's excited about where I am right now," Voytik said. "He was really complimentary how I do my job out there. He talked to me about the role of the quarterback, how I'd responded to the added pressure of this practice."

The 6-foot, 185-pound quarterback has offers from Clemson, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt and Memphis. He believes Wake Forest is next.

Two schools are sticking out the most.

"Pitt and Mississippi State are out front right now," Voytik said. "Vandy's backed off a little bit—I just haven't talked to the coaches recently. I'd say it's Pitt and Mississippi State."

Clemson, however, is in the mix.

"I like everything about the school and the tradition. It's not as good a situation as some of the other schools," he said. "They signed a few quarterbacks in their last class. I'm not scared to compete or anything, it's just not as good of a situation. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to go there and I can't beat some people out."

As a junior, Voytik completed 121 of 221 passes for 1,850 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 439 yards and seven touchdowns. Top Stories
