Elliott visits low-country DE

Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott, who's a native of the Charleston area, spent last Monday in the low-country checking on an underrated 2012 defensive end.

Elliott's not the only FBS coach who's stopped by Ridgeland High School to see Wesley Scott. Maryland, Illinois, N.C. State and Miami of Ohio have all sent recruiters through the area.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end currently holds two offers: Miami (Ohio) and S.C. State. He hopes that Clemson could be on the way with one, too.

Scott recently told CUTigers.com about the other schools that have started to show him interest.

"I'm hoping Georgia Tech will offer me. I'm getting some stuff from Auburn, they're starting to show some interest in me," he said.

Are there any schools that stick out more than the others?

"I like Clemson a lot. I like Georgia Tech. I like USC. I like Auburn. I can't really what school I really, really like, but I like all of them," Scott said.

He's been impressed with the Clemson coaches.

"I like the coaching staff--coach Elliott is a pretty good coach," Scott said. "I talk to him last week for a while about me playing defensive end."

The rising senior has started to make plans for what could be a productive summer.

"I'm going to attend a day camp at Clemson, USC, Georgia Tech and a couple of other schools," he said.

As a junior, Scott finished with 78 tackles, 10 sacks and 12 tackles for loss.
