Kelly plans return to Clemson

Chad Kelly, one of the top-two quarterbacks on Clemson's 2012 offer board, has finalized the details of his second trip to Clemson.

QB Chad Kelly Profile

St. Joseph Collegiate Institute rising senior quarterback Chad Kelly will fly into Atlanta and visit Clemson on June 15.

"It's going to be my uncle [Danny Kelly] that hasn't seen it yet and [my] one uncle that came to the spring game, he'll be there," Kelly said. "It's for my uncle [Danny]. He's the business man of the family, so he wants to check it out for himself.

"We're going to look at everything. Academics, hear more about coach Morris' offense and all that other stuff. It's definitely going to be critical to see how it goes in these next couple of weeks."

The Tigers currently sit in prime position for the three-star prospect. Kelly currently lists Clemson as his leader.

"After just talking to coaches and other people, it pretty much sealed the deal," he said. "After talking to everybody and hearing all this stuff--just thinking about it and praying about it--I don't know, it just seems like it would be a good fit and everything. We'll just have to wait and see."

While he's in the region, Kelly will "hopefully" visit Alabama. A trip to Florida State is still up in the air.

Kelly's uncle Danny represented Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, another uncle of Chad's.

The nation's No. 29 quarterback in the class of 2012, Kelly said a decision could be made in the last week of June or the first week of July.

As a junior, he threw for 2,159 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,057 and 14 touchdowns.

Clemson has narrowed down its 2012 quarterback search to Kelly and four-star quarterback Chad Voytik. Top Stories
