The No. 9 tight end in the class of 2011 doesn't graduate from Jack Britt High School until June 8. On Monday, when he spoke to, MacLain finished his last final exam.

With just over a month before he's set to report to Clemson, MacLain said there's one area in particular that he wants to improve.

"I'm just really working on conditioning because I want to be ready to run, to keep me in shape, so I can stay on the field," he said. "That's what a lot of the incoming freshmen have been working towards."

MacLain hopes that he's able to work his way into playing time alongside Dwayne Allen, who also hails from Fayetteville, N.C.

"I just want to make a big impact with D.A. He's going to be one of the best tight ends in the country this year," MacLain said. "I'm looking forward to learning from him, really working hard. Hopefully we can get some two tight ends sets in there."

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end, who plans on wearing No. 88 this fall, will room fellow freshmen Morgan Roberts, Colton Walls and Stanton Seckinger.

"I'm looking forward to finally getting there and just going to work," MacLain said. "We've been waiting for six months, now that we've made it official and everything. I'm just ready to get down there and start working."

MacLain finished his high school career with 42 catches for 575 yards and eight touchdowns. Top Stories
