The Fox Creek High School (North Augusta) rising senior will be in Clemson next Wednesday for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp. So far, Tigertown is the only college destination the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder has seen.
According to Marty Williams, Clemson defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison is recruiting him harder than any other college recruiter.
He plans to hit Florida for a visit and the Friday Night Lights Camp. Visits to Miami and East Carolina are also in store.
Williams will be on the lookout for two things as he moves closer towards making a decision.
"One, how the coaches act toward the football players—I just want to see how the football players bond with each other," he said.
Along with Clemson, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Florida, Miami, Minnesota and East Carolina have offered.
Clemson has offered Williams as a defensive back. Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern are recruiting him to play quarterback. East Carolina wants him to play running back.
"Most of the schools don't even know where I'll play, so they want to get me down for a one day camp to show what I can do, to see where I fit in," he said.
Clemson defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison is in touch once a week.
"Sometimes we just talk football," Williams said. "He usually tells me he could use me at Clemson. Most of the time it's just a catch up to each other, to see how each other is doing."
When might a decision made?
"I'm going to continue through, until after my football season is over, to make my decision," Williams said.
