Irmo junior point guard Jordan Roper picked up an offer from Brownell on Mar. 24. On Thursday, June 9, Roper committed to the Tigers.

"I did it a couple of minutes ago," Roper told CUTigers.com. "I called coach Brad Brownell. He was pretty excited."

"I told him Clemson is my school of choice. He asked me if I wanted to be a Tiger, and I said, ‘Yes sir,'" Roper said.

For a while, the 6-foot-1, 160-pound rising senior has favored Clemson along with VCU. He selected the Tigers over a number of mid-major offers. UNC-Asheville, Tennessee State, High Point and Presbyterian also offered.

What made Clemson his school of choice?

"I think their program is headed in a great direction. They play a high level of basketball. They're close to home, and I enjoy their staff," he said.

As a junior for AAAA state champion Irmo, Roper averaged 20 points, three assists and three rebounds.

Clemson assistant coach Earl Grant serves as his primary recruiter for Clemson.
