Tigers land another commitment

Goose Creek's T.J. Burrell has committed to the Clemson coaching staff.

LB T.J. Burrell Profile

Burrell, who attended camp in Tigertown earlier this week, became commitment No. 10 in the 2012 recruiting class.

"I've kind of loved them since day one," he told CUTigers.com. "I just wanted to learn more about the school, the campus and build a relationship with the coaches.

"Just being up there the other day at the camp, it was like the little push that I need to go overboard."

There were no specifics as to what about his one-day visit earlier this week that made Burrell want to pledge to the Tigers.

"It was just being up there around the school. It seems like I would be a perfect fit for that kind of defense," he said.

Burrell looks forward to playing under defensive coordinator Kevin Steele.

"He's a good guy. He'll make you work and make you better as a person," Burrell said. "He'll make you a better player. That's the kind of coach that everybody needs, a guy that will push you."

He is currently ranked as the No. 62 safety in the nation by Scout.com, but could move into an outside linebacker role at the next level.

As a junior, Burrell registered 105 tackles and three interceptions.
