WR Jalen McDaniel Profile
That wide receiver, rising junior Jalen McDaniel, camped in Clemson for the second session of the Dabo Swinney Football Camp earlier this month.
"It was a great experience, learning new things and new techniques to get off the ball to be a great receiver," he told CUTigers.com.
It was the second year in a row that McDaniel attended the three-day camp in Tigertown. This summer's experience was different than the previous.
"I was a bit more noticed recruiting-wise. I'm a little bit bigger and have more knowledge under my belt," McDaniel said.
He spent time talking one-on-one with offensive coordinator Chad Morris, wide receivers coach Jeff Scott, defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks.
With Scott, "[We] talked about making sure my grades were right, just make sure I continue being a good kid and staying on the right road to becoming a Clemson Tiger."
Steele now serves as the primary recruiter for McDaniel. Brooks, who started the relationship with MacLain at Tennessee, previously served as Clemson's recruiter at Jack Britt.
McDaniel is now in frequent contact with both Steele and Brooks.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound wide receiver visited Auburn earlier this summer and he will also attend camp at N.C. State later this week.
"That would be Clemson, Auburn, N.C. State and North Carolina," McDaniel said.
Having MacLain at Clemson helps, but that's not the only reason McDaniel has Clemson as his favorite.
"It's family-oriented, very religious. That's the first thing. I'm a very religious person," he said. "How they handle themselves on and off the field."
Though he's yet to pick up an offer, McDaniel believes Clemson and N.C. State are closest to pulling the trigger. McDaniel said that was discussed when he was at the Clemson camp.
"There was talking of a verbal offer in the conversation, but nothing took place," he said.
As a sophomore, McDaniel had 49 receptions for around 600 yards and six touchdowns.
